Four Outfits With a White Top for Spring

Ways to Wear a White Top for Spring

Today I’m sharing a few outfits with a white top for spring! But first, a confession. I used to think white tops were boring and plain. Turns out white tops weren’t the problemthe problem was me, ha!  I had no idea how to make white tops look good. Fast forward many years, finally understanding style on a deeper level and understanding how to make clothes work, and dang, was I wrong about white tops.😆

There are a billion ways you could wear a white top, but today I’ll just share a few.

BTW, if you want to hear more about my story of “figuring out style,” then look out for my upcoming free class called “The 3 Most Important Keys to Awesome, Easy Style.” In it, you’ll get the shortcut through understanding style so that you don’t have to stumble aimlessly through it. Instead, you’ll get straight to the most important style concepts to make style click!

This white top is a great Amazon find that I picked up in both the color Vanilla Ice and the Bouquet Floral print, which I showed in my recent post, 5 Black Jeans Outfits for Spring, HERE. The top is really lightweight, and it’s flowy with a good drape that allows for an easier fluid front tuck. (i.e., less problems with it sticking out awkwardly from the side view if you front tuck. 😉) The ruffle details at the shoulders and sleeves are a pretty touch! It’s a tad see through, and to be honest, I can’t really see through it when wearing a nude colored bra. BUT, I’d recommend wearing a nude colored bra for sure or a nude colored camisole underneath if you want to be super safe. Regardless, it’s worth trying if you have Amazon Prime and can buy it with free shipping and free return shipping. It comes in 3 solid colors and 3 prints. The Bouquet Floral print that I also own isn’t see through at all. I wear size S. Check them out HERE!

This white top is really versatile since it can be tucked fully into bottoms as well as works great with a partial tuck, and the material is nice enough for work looks and nicer casual looks. Last, the neckline works with all different types of necklaces, from short and long pendants to any statement necklaces you want to rotate through. 👏🏽

Alright, onto the outfits!

SIZING INFO: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

1. White Top + Colored Bottoms
If you don’t know what to pair with your colored bottoms, a white top is almost always a safe bet! I went with a work look here, but you could totally choose a pair of casual colored bottoms as well.

These are the Amazon pants I shared last week in a different color (and shared last year). They’re really cute, very affordable, ranging between $16.99 and $26.99, and comfy! They’re lightweight, super stretchy and have an elastic waistband. Just a heads up that the material definitely reflects the price point 😆, but they’re a fun addition to break out of standard work slacks at an affordable price, and they’re still comfy nonetheless! They come in 13 colors, which you can find HERE. I wear size S.

2. White Top + Printed Skirt
A white top like this is the perfect complement to a printed skirt. This lightweight skirt is another affordable Amazon find that is lightweight and flowy with a silky feel and a comfy elastic waistband. It is midi length on me (I’m 5’6”), but can be shortened easily by a tailor.

If you need another layer, throw on a denim jacket. That’s usually my go-to for dressy casual looks with skirts or dresses, especially in the spring when you only need a light layer. This is my favorite denim jacket that’s super SOFT and STRETCHY and comfy! It doesn’t have pockets, which I thought would be a deal breaker for me, but in 2 years I haven’t missed the pockets once since my phone is usually too big for denim jacket pockets anyway. It’s so comfy and I’m the kind of person that would prioritize the comfort above the pockets. Check out this denim jacket HERE in the wash I’m wearing and in other washes HERE.

If you’re looking for other denim jacket options, someone from team PMT really likes THIS one. She said she for sure needs the pockets, and that this one is a great alternative to the KUT jacket I wear. Check it out HERE.

3a. White Top + Jeans + Heels + Statement Necklace
Whether you’re wearing your standard dark wash skinny jeans, a classic bootcut pair, straight leg jeans, or whatever, a white top always looks great with jeans! Here, I went with light wash girlfriend jeans. Dress it up with a statement necklace and metallic heels!

I shared these jeans last week with a cute embellished sweatshirt (HERE). These jeans are SO COMFY. They’re a medium thickness, very stretchy, and even have an awesome, stretchy waistband with an elastic panel sewn in. I love how the mild distressing gives them a little character, visual interest, and a more relaxed feel. Check them out HERE. I wear size 6.

And, BTW, this statement necklace goes in and out of stock, and right now it’s BACK IN STOCK! It’s my go-to necklace whenever I need to dress up an outfit, and it’s a huge PMT fave! Catch it HERE. See the many ways I’ve worn it HERE.

If you need another layer, any completer piece works, like a utility jacket, cardigan, or blazer.

3b. White Top + Jeans + Flats
Last is a dressed-down version of the previous outfit, swapping the heels for flats and statement necklace for a pendant.

These flats are a super inexpensive find at just $24.99 that are VERY, VERY COMFORTABLE for their price. Now, I can’t say they’ll last more than a seasonthat’s TBD, haha! But, the upper is extremely soft with a lot of flexibility and some stretch for an even comfier fit. There is a bit of padding in the footbed, too. They come in this tan color and a cognac color. See them HERE.
